Is there a way by which candidates from other states can apply for RAS without visiting any kiosks in Rajasthan to pay exam fees??
It appears payment through CC/DC/online payment gateway is disabled.

@tushar : as per RPSC one can submit the form by paying online thru netbanking although I am not sure whether its working it or not.
naresh ji i m taking philosophy as an optional and this is new subject for me is there any need of coaching or self study is sufficient.
i have read 3-4 chapters of indian philo. i found it interesting also. my second optional is eco ( i have done PG in eco) coz it is lengthy one thats y i decided to take second optional which has short syllabus .
what u think it is correct decision. or not?

Philosophy is good option but u need guidance to keep the things under control for what to read and what not to read. History is wider but helpful in GS so subject combination is ok but take some personal guidance for Phil.

naresh ji,i am puneet from science stream.my optionals are public adm. ,philosophy.how can i prepare public ad. For pre.last year in pub. Ad. Scaling was positive or negative?
@punit : not sure abt last yr scaling but its always better to forget abt scaling as one can do nothing abt it so better do ur best. Go for std bks not go deep in the subject, laxmikants book is good one.
@tushar : only payment thru kiosk is working for now so u have to contact someone back there in Rajasthan to submit your fees and get token. RPSC seems to walk backward where all other are working to provide methods to fill forms online but it still sticks to its root, not easy to change the system, so sad!
Sir the syllabus for RAS(pre and mains) is not on the website.Should we assume that it has the old syllabus on which last year's examination was conducted?
@anonymous : Its on the old pattern only will change from 2013 onwards.

@Naresh: In RAS, can we change the optionals in Mains from that we online submit now during prelims?

@puneet : Go thru Rumki Basu's book and then read Laxmi kants book again and again, it will surely help. No good coaching for Pub Admn in Jaipur as far as I know.

@ @y2j :) lots of factor involved in opting the optionals, if you have strong fundamentals u can opt ur subject otherwise go for those optionals for which material is readily available

Query regarding RAS2012 Online Application
Hi All,
I online applied for RAS 2012 and Application id was alloted to me after filling all required details. But using that id when i tried to Print the form , it showed error as "Corrupted Content Data".
Do anybody else face this problem? Does my application submitted or not?
@kuldeep : look for the syllabus if u are confident to perform above par, u can opt the Comp Science else go for Pub Admn

Naresh ji,kya gs(mains) ka paper hindi mein attempt kar sakte hein,if i opt for medium of instruction as english in application form?
@above : yes you can, see for advt. but you need to attempt the whole paper in one medium either english or hindi not in bilingual and it applies to all papers.
@puneet : look at tonk phatak area for notes or ask some senior. Pub Admn you can't do without laxmikants book short and simple for 20 and 50 word answers

@ NAresh : I am afraid that there are any coaching which deals in these subject but for GS you can take guidance of some of these like for Hindi in mains.

frist i would like to introduce myself... I am durga and belong to dholpur ( raj). i have selected for PhD at National Tsing Hua university, Taiwan and should enter there before 26 feb. everything is ready and a glamourous life is wating me. ther are also paying me 30000NT$ for study per month.
now problem is that:-
i always thought to became a RAS officer, a red light gypsy always appreciate me. and this is my last chance to appear in this exam , it means next time i will be overage. as well as post are 1150. so i am now in big confusion , what should i do ...although every friend and my all wellwisher saying that go...go but mymind in divert and saying take a chance.
i belong to science subject have done msc in environmental chemistry but in RAS i will go with HISTORY due to higher intrest in that subject as well as also this subject was in my MA studies.
you r expert in RAS , therefore i am asking you whether i am wrong ??
i believe that i can do and i am i m 100 % sure that i can clear MAINS because my writing skills and subject commmond is good. but i am afraid due to PRELIMS because sometimes paper comes in very easy and everyone can click that and no mean of deep study.
I have done research on this exam RAS 2012:-
what if assume : post is 1106
it means in pre selection candidate will be :- 16590
if i assume total number of appear candiate 33 district x 10000 forms from each district then it will be = 330000
so in prelims :- 300000/16950= 20 candidates / per seat
other thing:-
if we assume
total number of coaching in jaipur - 30
and all candidate select from those coaching will be - 30 x 100 = 3000
candidate from delhi coaching --- 30 x 1000= 3000
candiate from iii grade teacher well prepared = 3000
candidate former preparer = 3000
candidater from already in job in raj govt.= 1000
total number will be :=13000 candidates
but total will be 17000 so more than 4000 candidate remaining.
if we say cuttoff wise
i saw that 60 % is sufficient for pre clear but i donot know what is scalling and how much it affect to us . i always saw that its affect to histroy candidate.
so if i do 80 question in histroy and 60 question in gK , then nobody stop me.
although these are only datas from my mind and may be wrong.
please suggest me as you can

@DURGA : WELL FRIEND U HAVE DONE VERY THOUGHT PROVOKING STUDY ABOUT ALL THE FACTS BUT I AM SORRY TO SAY THAT ALL THESE FACTS BECOME IRRELEVANT ONCE YOU APPEAR IN RAS, THE INTRICACIES INVOLVED IN THIS EXAM IS BEYOND OUR COMPREHENSION AND ANALYSIS. AS FAR AS TREND GOES 50-60% ARE OK FOR GETTING THRU PREL AND 605 AND ABOVE IN MAINS FOR QUALIFYING IN MAINS REST DEPENDS ON ONES LUCK. I AM IN HURRY FI\OR NOW WILL DISCUSS THIS LATER ON SOME OTHER DAY.

according to you as you mentioned earlier, 50-60% is sufficient for pre but i think some higher if got 57 % marks and cutoff goes 56% but if scalling in my subject is 5% then my 57% will turn into 52 %, how can i clear it ?
second thing is that should go frist class paper of gk because it hav no scalling beside that should done top class in optional.
as we all know there is neg. scalling must be in histroy. therefore i think should not depand on only histroy, only gk can save us.
As we all know that u r our guide and we all waiting ur comments. therefore i am also waiting your comments as soon as possible.

naresh ji,suggest some books for public adm. In hindi medium.tmh laxmikant didn't cover all questions in 2010 pre exam.pre standard is now high.do you know in 2010 exam how much marks scaled in pub. Ad.? puneet

what is the proposed date of ras pre 2012, rpsc callender sowing that it will be arrange in the second week of may. can rpsc arrange it so fast because last date to apply for that is 10 march.

as you mentioned earlier in your blog, that scalling is depand on particular paper or subject toughness as well as number of candidate appear in subject.
as we all know that you are the king of RAS exam and no one has more information rather then you , So according to you how much marks is scalled in histroy pre.......just we want a trend ??
about 20 mark or 30 marks.
one thing is also that is marks is deducted or questions will be deducted.
we mean to say suppose some one attempt 80 questions and if neg. scalling is done then number of question will be deducted or number of marks (80*2=160-) willl deducted.
@anonymous : thanks for the complements, actually was on trng last week so not come online much. FYI I am only one of the few aspirants who give the most valuable years of my life while preparing for this but lack of info in addition to other factors couldn't get into the top cadre anyway coming to ur point scaling is like women, jise bhagwan bhi nahi samjh paaya ;)jokes apart.. its depend on many factors including toughness of the paper like if in any year history paper std is easy the scaling dec the score tremendously while if its tough it increases the score. As far as I assume the more variation in the marks of candidates more will be beneficial for those who are above par. Only marks will be deducted or increased in scaling. your raw marks will be put in existing formula and score calculated which become your scaled marks.
I can only suggest give ur best effort and forget abt the scaling.

(usually,i prefer standard books according to the syllabus separately)for example:for modern history of rajasthan,m.s.jain and for the freedom movement,B.L pangadiya's book and other)
@ANONYMOUS: For Raj GK go for Bhallas book, in addition to that you can go for gutkas, by that i mean small booklets available as in Prel and mains small questions can be asked from anywhere so just go thru small books for any value addition in addition to std book of Bhalla and nathuramkas book

prev yr RAS mains paper are easily available in mkt in Jaipur.
no separate merit list for other states. also other state students have fair chances to get thru this exam, so go for it.

@vikas : from above three I would say you should go for Pub Admn as Socio syl is wider and for psycho u need some background and matter is also not readily available for psycho. Pub Admn will also help in GS paper and interview

@ mukesh : I don't know why u have confusion, Sanskrit is very good optional to opt for in mains and as u have phil as ur sub so go for it in prel. take decisions as administration is all abt decision. best wishes.

after a long time, it is good to see u online, u was heleped me in my previous attempt RAS 2010, in that exam, i was got good marks in my subjects , but got about half the marks in compulsary subjects... even in hindi i was expected 130-40, i got only 70-75. @vishal : u need to contact the kiosk back in Rajasthan as online payment is not available right now, take a token from kiosk and fill the form online.

JAIPUR: The Rajasthan High Court has issued show cause notice to the Rajasthan Public Service Commission and the state authorities for not implementing the news scheme in the upcoming state civil service examinations as being done by the UPSC and other public service commissions of several states.
Taking cognizance of a petition filed by six candidates of the RAS examination wherein it was said many states including Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, UP and Himachal Pradesh among others have done away with the old system of examination, Justice M N Bhandari issued the notice to the state authorities.
Madan Mohan Meena, counsel for petitioners, said, "In 2011, UPSC and many states have replaced the several choices of subjects available in prelims as also in mains examinations with two compulsory papers of GK and General Aptitude in prelims and certain compulsory papers in mains exam. Despite having taken a cabinet decision, the state government is conducting the RAS-2012 exam with old scheme."
Meena highlighted that the government order dated May 18, 2011 to do away with the multiple subject scheme was taken in order to avoid scaling and uneven marks obtained by candidates appearing from different subject combinations, resulting in multiple litigations.
It was also brought to the notice of the court that the state government on the pretext of implementing the new scheme did not advertised the vacancies despite the RPSC calendar showing that the examination for the posts of RAS slated for 2011 and now when the posts have been advertised, the exam will be conduct

@ jiya : I am not sure what optionals of engg are there in RAS so kindly go thru advt in detail to clarify and yes there is no harm in taking engg optionals.
@priya: with BBA and MBA u can opt for pub admn and commerce so plz look for syl first.
@ano .. : for any queries of form kindly call RPSC office, they are helpful in this matters so jst give a call to RPSC.
@ashok : sorry I dont have ans key of those and I am not following that exam also.
@sub seln : with comp sc u can opt for Hist if u have to choose from it and pub admn. Scaling is sth which tries to equate all subjects but is it possible is always doubtful.
@news abt exam : RAS exam fill with lots of news , writs, rumours and so on .. I can only say concentrate on studies and forget all else.

Don't know why are you changing the philosophy, its good subject and since u have read it already the chances of improvement is there. For Hindi litt u need to be good in your concepts spl written hindi, if u r good in that u can easily score good marks in any litt subject.

Can anyone tell what is proposed date of RAS pre 2012. some one is saying that it will be onthe 7 june, but on 7 th june its thrusday and how can it possible that a big exam will secheduled on working day.

@ pari, for prelims in Computer science just stick to the books at graduation level.
you need to get the previous year paper from your friends as it is not easily available in market. check the paper and u'll come to know that the questions asked are very basic and tests your basic knowledge so no need to go in deep. If possible get a book for computer science for PSU's exam (objective questions) there u can find lot of similar questions.

@navneet : next RAS exam will be most probably on new pattern so cant say much as optionals will not be there in prel. At present one can opt any subject irrespective of ones subject in graduation.
@gajraj : in prel two paper of two hour duration, first of GS and Raj GK and second is of optional. Both are obj type. No idea abt bks of ur opt, let some one else guide u otherwise ask ur srs.
@rafique : go for ur graduation bks only.
@vikky : GS paper always surprise as they ask questions from anywhere ranging from customs, dresses, lokdevta and all. So it all depend from where paper setter ask question. Most questions are factual so u can't help urself except having gone thru various small bks avaliable in mkt in addition to std bks like bhallas, nathuramkas and so.

@ saloni : Read pub admn books in english medium they have simple english words so dont worry as its more like objective type small questions answer vsa type question so that will not be an issue, if u take hindi medium then u will face many technical words which u never heard of. Philosophy is good optional to opt so go thru its syll
@yashwant : no idea abt mech engg cutoff and I only suggest forget scaling, if u r good enough in ur sub then its ok to opt it.

no limit on number of attempts in RAS for general and all other reserved catg. candidates, only age limit is there.
@shanaya : no syllabus has been prescribed for new exams but whenever it will happen surely Rajasthan GK would have more weightage, For Rajasthan Read Sujas, Rajasthan Granth academy and Bhallas book
Eng Litt is good to opt, Socio is little wider but interesting so one can opt it.
@mahe : RAS officer career prospects depends on your networking capabilities, luck and political connections. In administration they were first posted as SDM and become Asst Collector and IAS in around 10-20 yrs depending on vacancies, also they were posted in some other state enterprises in various capacities.

@ Aerial.... longest folk dance of Rajasthan is GAVRI DANCE. it usually starts in the month of Bhadrapad and ends in the month of Ashwin(acc. to hindi calender)
In terms of time limit i think no such clear time limit is there for any folk dance so no chances of arising of such questions

I need your help due to we all know that you are grandfather of RAS exam…I mean you have a lot of knowledge.
I belong to General category and history is my optional. I cleared 54 questions in Gk and 84 questions in Indian history after deducting of all negative marks , answers sheet was checked by springboard academy, jaipur.
Now situation is my total marks is 138 x2= 276 out of 400.
Sir problem is that question paper of history was very easy I think its not fulfill the RAS standard as well as GK paper was also loose so according to me 276 is not a good stone.
I am sure that there will be scalling in history and that situation , when I have clear only 54 question ( 108 marks) in GK , will not save me.
But other plus point is that always cutoff goes around 230 as well as seats are too much ( 17000 in pre) and only 250000 candidates is appeared in this exam.
Now I need your suggestion should I go to prepare for mains or join my duties because this is a crusial time for me.
I know well about you via your blog that you are in very helpful in nature and I trust on you …..And also will go with your suggestion.

jin candidates ke gk&gs mein acche marks aaye hain wo acchi baat hai kyonki gk and gs mein scaling nahi hoti usme as such marks add hote hain.
about optional agar paper easy aaya hai to negative or agar difficult aaya hai jaisa ki pub ad and economics usme +ve scaling hogi

how r u , i have scored 114 in gs and 167 in computer science i.e. total 281 ...... i have chance to clear it but i am afraid of scaling whether it can be more than 40-50 ... as computer science paper was easy.. please speak.

@above : you can't change optional once you opted as RPSC not ask for forms after prel result. Earlier it was possible but from last few attempts its strict no no, so go for what u have opted.
@ above all asking for cut off, I again reiterate that its not possible for anyone to say thats the cutoff for particular subject. There are some facts which one has to keep in mind like as said by mahendra@udaipur above that there is no scaling in GS so if u have attempted well in GS you have better edge over other peers and if u performed well in your own optional, by perform i mean if u r better than some of your peers and not make much silly mistake and got more than 60 marks in optional then you are better off and have good chance to clear and if u r around 50 % in ur optional then there is only fair chance of getting thru it. But all u don't loose hope RPSC is always package of surprises, sometimes even 85 % in optional don't get thru prel(like once in history if one get 80 % they not got call for mains) and sometimes even 40 %(like once in pol sc case) got the call. So only God knows abt such fictitious questions answer. Anyway Go for mains prepn buddies as this is the time to get ahead of your competitors.
