Eleven Digit Mobile Numbers from Jan 2010

Department of Telecommunication is proposing to switch from 10 digits mobile numbers to 11 digits number as the series is exhausting fast due to steep rise in the increase of the mobile subscribers. At the end of Dec 2008 there were around 346.9 million subscribers in India. China already have 11 digit numbers and India is catching up the most populous country in number of people as well and if the population growth keep on increases like the past few years then it will catch China very soon.

Well don't know whether some of you know or not but I have seen many such practices by various cellular companies where they in name of increasing their subscriber base they sell SIMS at throw away prices and in some case they are also providing more talk values then the original cost of the new connection so many people purchase those, use the talk value and then throw away all those SIMS while cell companies claim a bigger subscriber base.

Paper Leaks in Rajasthan

Board of Secondary Education has achieved the dubious record of so many paper leaks this year. Two papers of Class X and one paper of XII along with four paper of VIII class have been cancelled on grounds of paper leak but no one knows how many papers actually get leaked because it's still unclear from where these paper get leaked. One of the leading newspaper claimed that the real picture is far from truth as they get many fax and from them many questions come as it is, board says that they are only guess papers but how come they be so accurate is not clear. The board has made the life of an average studious more difficult as they have to go through all those exam blues again for no fault of them. Around ten lakh secondary students has to take exam again later while around 46,000 senior secondary students has to take Sanskrit Litt. II on 12th April. Even after all this melodrama, government and administration were accusing each other for the ruckus, some call it is due to political rivalry and the result is the resignation of Board Chairman Mr Bharat Kumar Kumhar. But this seems as only scapegoat in the whole process, the real culprits are still at large.

This quantum of black money, if recovered, will amount to allocating Rs 4 crore to every Indian village to improve living conditions in the countryside.

10. Boost tourism sector: Identify 50 destinations and develop infrastructure, connectivity. Double foreign tourist arrivals in 5 years to help generate employment in hospitality industry.

11. Ban on foreign direct investment (FDI) in retail sector to help domestic retail trade.

An improved POTA-type law will be introduced. The intelligence mechanism shall be overhauled. India's 4000-km long coastline will be fully protected by enhanced naval security.

2. We will systematically detect, detain and deport illegal immigrants who have emerged as a major source of homegrown terror. Fencing of the India-Bangladesh border, deliberately neglected by the UPA in pursuit of vote bank politics, will be speedily completed.

3. Use coercive diplomacy to isolate and compel countries engaging in exporting terror across the border to stop their misadventure. Ensure that the foreign tap of separatist groups in India is completely turned off.

4. Wage a relentless war against Maoist groups throughout the country using the highly successful and popular Chhattisgarh model.

5. Introduce a comprehensive National Identity Card for all citizens of India.

3. Secure energy needs through aggressive diplomatic and commercial moves in oil-producing countries.

WOMEN EMPOWERED, NATION STRENGTHENED

1. Introduce the Madhya Pradesh BJP Government's highly successful 'Ladli Lakshmi' Scheme
throughout India to directly transfer funds to the school going girl child to encourage education and secure economic self-sufficiency for young women. Rs. 1.18 lakh after completion of 12th

The party remains committed to implementing such a code after discussions with all sections of opinion.

KAILA DEVI FAIR

KAILA DEVI FAIR
28 March 2009

The annual fair of Kaila Devi, (Mahalakshmi or the goddess of wealth), is held at the village Kaila (24 kms to the south west of Karauli) in Karauli district in the month of Chaitra (Mar-Apr), lasting for a fortnight. The temple of Kaila Devi is located on the banks of the Kalisil river in the hills of Trikut, 2 Kms. to the north-west of Kaila village. Another attraction is the small temple dedicated to Bhairon, situated in the courtyard and facing the shrine of Kaila Devi is a temple of Hanuman locally called 'Languriya'.

Approximately 2 lakh devotees gather during the fair. The ritual of Kanak-Dandotis is observed by staunch devotees. They cover a distance of 15 to 20 Kms to reach the temple, not on foot but by lying prostrate, making lines with their hands in that position, advancing up to the line drawn and repeating this procedure till they reach the temple.
While some eat food and take rest during the journey, others endure the rigours of the ritual.

Groups of Meena tribesmen arrive in a spirit of gaiety – dancing, singing and creating a lively atmosphere. The spacious courtyard becomes the venue for dances and songs sung in praise of the guardian deity.

The nearest railhead is Hindaun at a distance of about 48 Kms. Shri Mahavirji is another railhead of the Western Railway near Kaila. The site is approachable by well maintained roads from Karauli, Hindaun and Mahavirji. During the fair, the State Transport as well as private operators provide bus services keeping in mind the huge inflow of pilgrims.

MEWAR FESTIVAL, UDAIPUR

MEWAR FESTIVAL, UDAIPUR
29th - 31th March 2009

The Mewar Festival is celebrated to welcome the advent of spring. It coincides with the festival of Gangaur in Udaipur, and has a unique charm about it. The women folk gather to dress the images of Isar and Gangaur and then carry them in a ceremonial procession through different parts of the city. The procession winds its way to the Gangaur Ghat at Lake Pichhola. Here, the images are transferred to special boats amidst much singing and festivity.

Once the religious part of the festival is over, it is time for cultural events where Rajasthani culture is portrayed through songs, dances and other programmes. The festival culminates with an impressive fireworks display.

GANGAUR FESTIVAL

GANGAUR FESTIVAL
29th - 30th April 2009
Gangaur is one of the most important local festivals in Rajasthan. In some form or the other it is celebrated all over Rajasthan. “gan” is a synonym for Lord Shiva and “gauri” or “gaur” stands for Goddess Parvati, the heavenly consort of Lord Shiva. Gangaur celebrates the union of the two and is a symbol of conjugal and marital happiness.

Gangaur is celebrated in the month of chaitra (March-April), the first month of the Hindu calendar. This month marks the end of winter and the onset of spring.

This festival is celebrated especially by women, who worship clay idols of “Gan” & “Gauri” in their houses. These idols are worshiped by unmarried girls who seek the blessings of Gan and Gauri for a good husband, while the married women pray for the good health and long life of their husbands.

This worship which starts form the first day of the chaitra month culminates on the 18th day into Gangaur festival with a great religious fervour. On the eve of Gangaur festival, women decorate their palms and fingers with henna. The idols of Gan and Gauri are immersed in a pond or in a near by lake on the last day of the festival.

A traditional procession of Gangaur commences form the Zanani- Deodhi of the City Palace, passing through Tripolia Bazaar, Chhoti Chaupar, Gangauri Bazaar, Chaugan stadium and finally converges near the Talkatora. The procession is headed by a colorful pageantry of elephants, old palanquins, chariots, bullock carts and performance folk artistes.

IPL to be held in SA from 18th April to 24th May

It has been confirmed now that second edition of IPL would be played in South Africa. The decision was made after a meeting between IPL Commissioner, Lalit Modi and Cricket South Africa Chief Executive Gerald Majola at Johannesburg on Tuesday.
England was not considered as the venue due to the inclement weather that prevails in the month of May during which England’s domestic season would be also be starting. There was a fear that 70% to 75% of IPL matches would be affected by rain and weather if England was chosen as the venue. Even though some of the franchisees preferred England as the venue, there was always an alternate available for IPL and that was South Africa. Further while shifting IPL out of India, it was promised that the first match of the day at 4.00 PM and the second match of the day would be at 8.00 PM, Indian Standard Time. IPL had assured the Indian viewing public that the prime time for watching the match on Television would not be compromised. This timing could be achieved more practically in South Africa than in England.

The first match of the season will be played on 18th April 2009.

Matches will be held in 6 cities - Johannesburg, Durban, East London, Centurion, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town, which will also hold the Opening Ceremony.

There will be total six venues for the matches across South Africa.
