Delhi HC directs DOPT to recruit visually impaired in IAS


In a historic decision, Delhi High Court has directed Department of Personnel and Training of Union Government to recruit within six weeks a visually challenged man Ravi Prakash in Indian Administrative Service. Court also fined DOPT with Rs 25000 and asked it to pay to petitioner Prakash who had sought his recruitment in service by saying that there was a backlog of as many as seven vacancies in IAS for the visually-impaired.

SHRI H C Meena assumes the office of DGP Rajasthan

1976 batch IPS officer Mr Harish Chandra Meena assumed the office of DGP (DIRECTOR GENERAL AND INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE), RAJASTHAN. He was earlier posted as DIRECTOR GENERAL, HOME GAURD AND CIVIL DEFENCE, RAJASTHAN. He had been SP of various districts of Rajasthan like Jalore, Jhalawar, Pali, Barmer and Banswara. He was also IGP of CRPF. He was also awarded the 1996 Indian Police Medal and 2002 President Medal. On the occasion he get the guard of honuor and later on he inspects the parade.

Notification - Special Class Railway Apprentices' Examination, 2009

No. F. 5/1/2008-EI(B):
An examination for selection of candidates for appointment as Special Class Railway Apprentices in Mechanical Department of Indian Railways will be held by the Union Public Service Commission on 26th July, 2009 in accordance with the Rules published by the Ministry of Railways (Railways Board) in the Gazette of India dated the 28th February, 2009.

1. CANDIDATES TO ENSURE THEIR ELIGIBILITY FOR THE EXAMINATION:
    
The Candidates applying for the examination should ensure that they fulfill all eligibility condition for admission to examination.  Their admission at all the stages of the examination will be purely provisional  subject to satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions 

    Mere issue of admission certificate to the candidate will not imply that his/her candidature has been finally cleared by the Commission.

   Commission take up verification of eligibility conditions with reference to original documents only after the candidate has qualified for interview/Personality Test.

APPLICATION FORM :

     Candidates must apply in the Common application form devised by the Commission for its examinations, which can be purchased from the designated Head post Offices/Post Offices (specified in Appendix-III of the Notice) throughout the country against cash payment of Rs. 20/- (Rupees Twenty Only). Each such Form can be used only once and only for one examination.

 

                 In case of any difficulty in Application Forms from the designated HPOs/POs, the candidates should immediately contact the concerned post Master or UPSC's "FORMS SUPPLY MONITORING CELL" over Telephone No. 011-23389366/FAX No. 011-23387310.  Candidates are advised to read carefully the "Instructions for filling up the Application form"given in Appendix of this Notice.


         

3.    LAST DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS :

        All applications must reach the "Secretary, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi - 110069" either by hand or by Post/Speed Post or by Courier, on or before the 30th March, 2009.

       

       The candidate should note that applications will be received by hand, only one at a time, at the designated counter(s) and not in bulk, till 5 PM only.

 

       However, in respect of candidates residing abroad or in certain remote localities specified in Para 6 of this Notice the last date for receipt of applications by Post/Speed Post only (not by Hand or by Courier) is 06th April, 2009.

 

4.     PENALTY FOR WRONG ANSWERS : 

Candidates should note that there will be penalty (Negative Marking) for wrong answers marked by a candidate in the Objective Type Question Papers.

 

5.     FACILITATION COUNTER FOR GUIDANCE OF CANDIDATES :

    In case of any guidance/information/clarification regarding their applications, candidature etc. candidates can contact UPSC's Facilitation Counter near 'C' gate of its campus in person or over Telephone No. 011-23385271/FAX No. 011-23381125/011-23098543 on working days between 10.00 hrs to 17.00 hrs.

      

6.  Mobile Phone Banned :

(a)     Mobile phones, pagers or any other communication devices are not allowed inside the premises where the examination is being conducted.  Any infringement of these instructions shall entail disciplinary action including ban from future examinations.

(b)      Candidates are advised in their own interest not to bring any of the banned item including mobile phones/pagers to the venue of the examination, as arrangement for safekeeping can not be assured.  

 

7.  Candidates are advised not to bring any valuable/costly items to the Examination Halls, as safe keeping of the same cannot be assured.  Commission will not be responsible for any loss in this regard.

‘ Sagar Prahari Bal’

The Navy is getting a new specialised force called “Sagar Prahari Bal” comprising 1000 personnel for protecting naval assets and bases on both East and West coasts and the Island territories. Along with this, 80 Fast Interception Crafts will be procured for sea front patrolling by this force. A new Regional HQ will be set up in Gujarat under the newly created post of COMCG, North-West, to look after surveillance off the coast of Gujarat.
Joint Operation Centres (JOCs) at Mumbai, Visakhapatnam, Kochi and Port Blair will be set up under the charge of existing Naval C-in-Cs. The JOCs will be jointly manned and operated by the Navy and Coast Guard with inputs from diverse agencies including Coast Guard, Navy and concerned Central and State Government agencies. The Naval C-in-Cs will be designated as the C-in-Cs Coastal Defence.
The government has approved setting up of nine additional Coast Guard stations to integrate into the ‘hub-and-spoke concept’ with coastal police stations along with manpower. These stations are to be located at Karwar, Ratnagiri, Vadinar, Gopalpur, Minicoy, Androth, Karaikal, Hutbay and Nizampatnam.

New Greenfield Airport at Pakyong and New Terminal building at Dibrugarh

The foundation stone for the development of New Greenfield Airport at Pakyong and the New Terminal Building at Dibrugarh were inaugurated today.

Airports Authority of India (AAI) has taken up development of new Green field Airport at Pakyong, Sikkim for operation of ATR 72 type of Aircraft. The development works include construction of New Terminal Building, runway and apron with link taxi-track, fire station, technical block-cum-control tower and other associated works at an estimated cost of Rs. 310 crores.

The New Terminal Building at Dibrugarh Airport having an area of 10536 sqm. is made of glass and steel structure having modern passenger friendly facilities such, central air conditioning, baggage handling system, escalators, public address system, Flight Information Display System (FIDS), CCTV for surveillance, check-in counters, car parking, etc. The Terminal Building has peak hour passenger handling capacity of 500 passengers.

54th Idea Filmfare Awards for 2008

Imran Khan and Ranbir Kapoor replaces Shahrukh Khan as the host of 54thth Feb 2009 Idea Filmfare award ceremony organised at Yash Raj Studios in Andheri on 28. From the first award given in 1953 the filmfare awards become Oscars of Bollywood and deem to be very prestigious for one and all.

Jodha Akbar sweeps the award later  in the evening when it receives award for best film, best director and best actor.

Well I can only say one thing as Slumdog Millionaire is related to India similarly 'Jodha Akbar' is related to Rajasthan so its a JAI HO for RAJASTHAN although due to controversy associated with its story the film has not been released in Rajasthan Theatres. But its the rich and colorful culture of Rajasthan which enhanced the beauty of this movie and several other movies.
