Supreme Court today ordered release of Dr Binayak Sen on bail. PUCL (People's Union for Civil Liberties) activist Dr Binayak Sen has been in jail for the last two years despite protest from various national and international activist. He was accused of having links with Maoist in Chhattisgarh. He had been working with local tribals and providing them with health care facilities as he is a trained paediatrician. Although he denied any link up with Maoist but maintained that Maoist has legitimate grievances. HE was in news when he was awarded the prestigious Jonathan Mann Award for Global Health and Human Rights for his services to poor and tribal communities and his unwavering commitment to civil liberties and human rights.(Photo : The Hindu) More about Dr B.
