Dear All,
Just a important thought about P.O. exams, I have this hobby of taking P.O. exams without any intention to join as I previously thought about running my own institute.
The big issue is that all banks have different eligibility percentage criteria without ant scientific basis for it like graduation with 60%, 55%, 50% etc. It all started out with SBI in order to perhaps feel superior or to cut no. of applicants gave 60% eligibility which is now reduced to 55%. Some banks taking this clue also gave different criteria for arts, scienc, commerce etc. but others put all faculties under one umbrella. It is so hard to get 60% in arts as compared to commerce or science.
When UPSC wants simple graduates and IIM wants only 50%, the banks should think what they are doing.
Has any bank scientifically analyzed any corelation between percentage and work effeciency or percentage criteria and selection chances.Sometimes it is so easy to miss the obvious, when one is not reading what is written on wall but reading fine prints.
I think in India we do not have unified pattern of marking, how can someone with say 80% from some private university compare with 80% from JNU.When there is no universalization in higher education, how can banks stop someone from competing on basis of graduation marks. If he or she is not competent they will be eliminated in the selection process.
Just a thought, all the best!
